Every GTA 6 Trailer Explained
A dated guide to every official Grand Theft Auto VI video: Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look and the Launch Trailer, with what Rockstar says each one shows.
Rockstar Games has released four main videos for Grand Theft Auto VI over almost three years. This guide lists them in order, with the date of each and what Rockstar itself says about it. We stick to the publisher's own descriptions and do not treat fan interpretations as facts.
The four videos at a glance
| Video | Date | What Rockstar says |
|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1 | December 4, 2023 | The first look at the game and its setting. |
| Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | All footage captured on PlayStation 5. |
| An Extended Look | August 27, 2026 | Made only from in-game footage recorded on PlayStation 5. |
| Launch Trailer | October 15, 2026 | Features the debut of the song Flower in a Hurricane. |
Trailer 1: the first look
Rockstar's Trailer 1 page is dated December 4, 2023. Rockstar's page describes the game as heading to the state of Leonida, home to Vice City and the areas around it. It is the video that announced the setting.
Because it came out so long ago, it is the least representative of the final game. Treat it as an announcement, not a preview of finished features.
Trailer 2: the story takes shape
Take-Two Interactive's press release says Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, and that all of its footage was captured on PlayStation 5. Rockstar's page gives the official premise: the two leads are pulled into a wide criminal conspiracy that spans the state of Leonida, in a place the publisher likes to call the sunniest in America.
That one sentence is the clearest official summary of the story so far. It tells us the two leads, the setting and the stakes, and it leaves the details open. For the characters themselves, see our guide to Lucia and Jason.
An Extended Look: in-game footage
The most useful video for judging the game is An Extended Look, dated August 27, 2026. Rockstar says it was captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5, and its page lists a running time of 26 minutes 48 seconds. It is far longer than the earlier trailers, so it shows more of how the world is meant to look and feel.
Rockstar also describes the game as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the series so far. That is the publisher's own marketing claim, so read it as a goal rather than a measured result. We cannot verify performance on Xbox Series X|S from this video, because Rockstar states the footage came from PlayStation 5.
The Launch Trailer
The newest video is the Launch Trailer, dated October 15, 2026. Rockstar's page says it features the debut of Flower in a Hurricane from Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It is the last big marketing beat before the November 19 release, which you can read about in our release date, platforms and price guide.
How to watch responsibly
Use the official channels. Watch the videos on Rockstar's own pages, or on its official channels. Re-uploads and "leaked footage" clips from other accounts can be unreliable, and we do not link to or describe unreleased material.
If you want a quick list of confirmed details drawn from these videos and Rockstar's other pages, our verified facts article collects them, each with its source.
